We had a great start in 2022! Here’s a recap of our first year along with an overview of 2023! We plan to continue art classes, art demonstrations, painting for fun, paint & fire, make & take ceramics, featuring a local artist in the store each month, local artist meet ups, networking of artists nationally, and more!

Grand Opening – April 23rd, 2022

As I look back over the past year, I am floored by our community’s support of Crossroads Art House and of the arts in general! It has been an amazing journey to be able to work with so many local artists and students. Looking back over the year, I am overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude.

Thank you for sharing your most precious moments with us like birthdays, anniversaries, bridal showers, and more! Thank you for sharing your precious little ones with us and for allowing them to experience the joys that art can bring. I’ve seen art heal, teach lessons, comfort, stir emotions, bring awareness, and so much more. Thank you to everyone that went out of their own comfort zone to try something new and put themselves out there with a creation!

Thank you to the artists that have participated in the VTX Art Walks downtown, that have volunteered to complete community projects for little or no pay, volunteered to judge shows, create flyers, for putting their art on display at Art House, and for supporting through social media.

Thank you to our members who have been patient with the immense changes that have taken place over the year. We were the landing pad for Art Expedition with Jupiter Horizons & The Texas Zoo, for Viva Texas Film Festival, for community projects, etc. It’s fun to see so many different forms of art but anytime were were cramped with extra artwork or film fest t-shirts, and the like, our members gave grace and understanding. We appreciate each and every one of our patrons. Thank you for your support through continued membership, taking classes, booking parties, painting clay figures, creating mosaics, or just interacting with our social media posts to help spread the word- we appreciate all of your support!

Our exciting new location Crossroads Art House opened its doors April 23rd, 2022 and we sure have had fun ever since! Let’s see what we’ve been up to since opening

We opened our doors on April 23rd, 2022.
Sarrah Beaver was one of our Artprenuers of the month. We also were honored to feature Savannah Carr, Ted Wise, Kathy Warren, Mary Smith, & Krysta Lyssy.

We were so excited DLUX 360 Photobooth, Ziggy The Clown (before retiring), Rusty Hook Winery, & Gary Moses joined us for our grand opening. Students came from both Victoria & Port Lavaca to join us and had fun spray painting and glow splatter painting!

We were happy to bring Victoria a paint & fire studio this year! Many chose to make & take with acrylic paints and some patrons enjoyed mosaics! We are also able to draw any requested image on a canvas for painting as well! Patrons showed interest in our drop in ceramics studio and members were able to make quite a few beautiful creations this year! We plan to continue to offer pre-made ceramic painting or glazing, ceramics, and pre-drawn canvases/custom drawn canvases during open hours for 2023. You can walk in anytime we are open to do any of those activities! It’s a fun date night or time with family. It’s also fun to do for yourself as a way to express yourself.

One patron created a custom urn for a dear friend who’s husband had passed.
One patron brought bisqueware from her childhood and was able to finally glaze it at Crossroads Art House!
Patrons LOVED adding extra paint to the community canvas. It’s our collaborative art project that is a living piece of art that morphs into a new image each day. If you haven’t gotten to see it in person, come check it out and pick it up to see how heavy it is with all of those paint layers!
When you’re finished creating, you can graffiti & sit on our weenie dog bench!

We were honored to help Children’s Discovery Museum fulfill their Texas Women’s for the Arts grant that let CDM patrons experience both visual & performing arts! From an in person author visit Karissa Winters who wrote Caticorn to a Grupo Folklorico performance, CDM patrons were able to experience ballet, Ballet Folklorico, illustration, clay, watercolor, and more!

It was an honor to help facilitate a collaborative art project that resulted in a chandelier hanging in City Hall for three months. Students from Crossroads Art House, Children’s Discovery Museum, and Crossroads Art House Classes at Port Lavaca Art Guild colored plastic bottles that resulted in the construction of the chandelier. In 2023, watch for a new mural for The Texas Zoo designed by a local youth artist and possibly a fundraiser mural for a new playground in Victoria.

Crossroads Art House was the intake facility for artwork in the Art Expedition at The Texas Zoo brought to Victoria by Jupiter Horizons Gallery. We were honored to help organize and process the art for this art show that gave away $1800 in prizes and money back to The Texas Zoo. The reception featured live animal painting, caricatures by Sanchez Studios, food sponsored by Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, additional prizes sponsored by Chick Fil A, and a multitude of program sponsors. In 2023, we plan to help with intake for the Triple Dip Art Show for grades K-12 and for the Art Expedition at The Texas Zoo for ages 18+

Crossroads Art House students had the task of creating one of the main features in a Jupiter Horizons Gallery exhibit and worked collaboratively with The Vine School.

At 3D Design Camp, Crossroads Art House students created the armature, Vine School students painted the Phoenix, and Art House students added feathers made of rice paper and construction paper.
Wabi Sabi Rising featured alternatively fired pottery from Victoria College Students.

Students from Crossroads Art House Animation Camp worked together to create an animated short clip called “Cherry Bowl”. They were able to enter and were accepted into Viva Texas Film Festival. Animation Club continues on Wednesday’s from 5-6:30pm and we plan to create another entry for the 2023 Viva Texas Film Festival.

We are so proud of our animation camp students for completing their animated clip, entering it in Viva Texas Film Festival, and going on stage for the Q&A! Thank you to Viva Texas Film Festival for creating this opportunity for our students!

Read more about Viva Texas Film Festival in their program- attached above. The next festival will be September 15th-17th, 2023.

The balloon weenie has been to quite a few events around the Crossroads. This photo was taken at Guac Fest 2022. We are planning at being at the next Guac Fest on May 5th, 2023. We are also coordinating a Triple Dip Art Show with Jupiter Horizons Gallery that will be for grades K-12.

Crossroads Art House kid’s classes can take place anywhere! In 2022, we hosted classes at Port Lavaca Art Guild, Parkway Port Lavaca, Children’s Discovery Museum, VAL, Anchored in Love, YMCA of the Golden Crescent, various events around town, and so much more! We’ve attended events in downtown Victoria, at the Victoria Public Library, in Cuero, CDM, Chick Fil A, Crossroads Christian School, and many more. Many times, we will bring the balloon weenie bench for the public to take photos of/sitting on, and graffiti.

However, many classes do take place at Crossroads Art House. In our PDF calendar, we have indicated out of studio classes/events with a 3 star icon. All other classes are in studio classes. We are able to do “messier” and more complicated projects in studio but we are happy to come to you if you have a group class or event idea!

In 2023, we plan to add programming to our schedule including targeted painting classes for youth, an essentials after school program that focuses on entrepreneurship, and a homeschool program.

Crossroads Art House is a fun way to celebrate any occasion! In 2022, we helped patrons celebrate brides maids parties, birthday parties, holiday parties, team building events, and anniversary celebrations. We do our best to make sure you have a great time at your event and that everyone comes away with an art piece that they love!

In 2023, we will continue to host parties! There’s room built into our schedule and you can check availability by emailing crossroadsarthouse@gmail.com or calling/texting 719-722-4115.

We had so much fun with everyone who joined us for field trips! Field trips included CDM, The Karate Academy, The Vine School, Cade Middle School, Sodalis, and more! We can accommodate a field trip for any group of any age (50 people or less). We are excited to see what field trips arise for 2023!

In 2022, Crossroads Art House students walked away from the VAL Spring Art Show with quite a few first and second place ribbons. We plan to focus a lot more attention to art shows in the Crossroads and out of the Crossroads for 2023. It is always optional for students to participate in competitive art, but we want students to have that opportunity. This applies to all age levels.

Patrons loved our themed paint nights in 2022! We plan to continue this into 2023. These are sometimes posted as 21+ nights on our calendar but other times they are family friendly. You can follow us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or our website for upcoming classes and paint nights.

Thank you so much for everything you’ve done to support Crossroads Art House and art in the Crossroads! We can’t wait to see what you create in 2023!
